Last week we welcomed two PANACEA Users at the CRMN-Lyon facility, Ran E. ABUTBUL and Joseph HURD from Prof. Daniel LEE's research group.
Lear a bit more on our PANACEA user pofiles and experience through Ran E. ABUTBUL interview;
Q1: Where are you from and what is your field of research?
I’m originally from Israel, and my current research focuses on semiconducting nanocrystals. I’m particularly interested in using techniques like solid-state NMR and DNP to study the surfaces and internal structure of nanocrystals.
Q2: Could you tell us a bit more about your scientific academic journey?
I started my PhD in material science, working on the colloidal synthesis of semiconductors with metastable phases. Currently, as a postdoc in Daniel Lee’s group, I’m combining my background in nanocrystal synthesis with advanced characterization using solid-state NMR to study exciting material systems.
Q3: How did you hear of PANACEA?
I heard about PANACEA through Daniel, my PI. He suggested I apply for DNP time.
Q4: What was the purpose of your visit?
The purpose of my visit was to study nanocrystals that were synthesized and functionalized in our lab. The sensitivity boost from DNP helped us perform experiments that normally take much longer. This helped us gain new insights about our materials. This was a very productive experience.
Q5: Overall, did you enjoy this access opportunity?
Absolutely! We had a fantastic experience. The access to the state-of-the-art facility and the collaborative environment really made a difference. I’m happy for the opportunity and look forward to future projects with PANACEA.
Are you also in need of some measurement time? On instrumentation available in one of our 8 PANACEA access sites?
